DAY 01 \u2013 BENTOTA \u2013 RAINFOREST – UDAWALAWE<\/h3>\n

After breakfast trekking in Sinharaja Rainforest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sinharaja Forest\u00a0Reserve<\/strong> is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international
\nsignificance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The hilly virgin
\nrainforest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests ecoregion, was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its
\ninaccessibility, and was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and a World Heritage Site in 1988. The reserve\u2019s
\nname translates as Kingdom of the Lion. Thereafter\u00a0leave for Udawalawe.<\/p>\n

Afternoon commence a Jeep Safari in Udawalawe National Park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Udawalawe National Park<\/strong>\u00a0lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri Lanka. The
\nnational park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe
\nreservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir. The reserve covers 30,821 hectares of
\nland area and was established on 30 June 1972. The park is 165 kilometres from Colombo. Udawalawe is an
\nimportant habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan Elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in
\nthe country.<\/p>\n

DAY 02 \u2013 UDAWALAWE -YALA \u2013 BENTOTA<\/h3>\n

After breakfast visit Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The main objective of this facility is rehabilitation of orphaned baby elephants to ultimately release them
\nback into their natural habitat. Up to three elephants per week are killed in Sri Lanka due to conflicts with humans,
\noften leaving behind orphan calves. The elephants are kept at part of the Udawalawe National Park to maintain
\nfamiliarity with their habitat, but have access to both food and medical care.All care at the facility is by trained staff,
\nand efforts are made to minimize contact between elephants and humans to keep the elephants from becoming
\nacclimated to humans. Although visitors can watch the elephants being fed, they are not allowed to touch or otherwise
\ninteract with them. Leave for Yala.
\n\u00a0<\/strong>
\nAfternoon safari to Yala National Park by jeeps.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yala National Park<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 is an important national park in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. This popular
\nreserve has more than 400 wild Asian Elephants, which are relatively easy to see in this open habitat. Yala also has a
\ndozen or so Leopards, although seeing this largely nocturnal carnivore requires considerable luck. There are good
\nnumbers of Crocodiles, Golden Jackals, Water Buffalo and Grey Iangurs amongst other large animals. The open
\nparkland attracts birds pf prey such as White-bellied Sea Eagle Crested Serpent Eagle, Fish Eagle Booted eagle,
\nChangeable Hawk Eagle and the wetlands have waders and Painted Storks. Land birds are in abundance, and include Indian Roller,
\nIndian Peafowl, Malabar Pied Hornbill.<\/p>\n

Thereafter leave for the Airport or the Bentota Beach Resort.<\/strong><\/p>\n
