Tour Itinerary

DAY 01 – AIRPORT – KANDY
Arrive in Sri Lanka & Clients will be met by our representative on arrival and transfer to Kandy. Kandy, the last stronghold of the Sinhalese Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere. In the afternoon commence city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orisons princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession. Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic had been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Dinner & overnight in, Kandy or similar

DAY 02 – KANDY – MAHIYANGANAYA – PASSIKUDAH
After breakfast leave for Passikudah. En-route visit Mahiyangana Temple. Mahiyanganaya is a town situated close to the Mahaweli River in Badulla District, Uva Province of Sri Lanka. It is said that the Lord Gautama Buddha visited Mahiyanganaya on the full moon Poya day of January in order to settle a dispute arose between Yakkas and Nagas (two tribes then inhabited this area) and this was his first ever visit to Sri Lanka. Then the Lord Buddha preached Dhamma to Sumana Saman, a leader in this area, to whom the Lord Buddha gave a handful of hair from his head, which Sumana Saman later enshrined in a small stupa, 10 feet (3.0 m) in height. This was the first stupa to be built in Sri Lanka. Afternoon proceed to Passikudah. Dinner & overnight stay in, Passikudah or similar

DAY 03 – PASSIKUDAH – DUNHINDA – BANDARAWELA
After breakfast proceed to Minneriya & Jeep Safari in Minneriya National Park. Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century AD. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts. Thereafter leave for Polonnaruwa & commence a city tour. Polonnaruwa was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th – 13th C.A.D Great revival was achieved in the country, politically, economically and socially during the period of Kings Vijayabahu Parakramabahu and Nissankamalla of the Polonnaruwa period. DAY 04 – PASSIKUDAH – DUNHINDA – BANDARAWELA
After Breakfast leave for Badulla & Visit Dunhinda Water Fall which is an ideal place to do a photo stop to have scenic picture card motives The Dunhinda Falls is one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful waterfalls. The waterfall, which is 210 feet (64 m) high gets its name from the smoky dew drops spray, (Dun in sinhala means mist or smoke) which surrounds the area at the foot of the waterfall. The water fall is created by the river called Badulu Oya which goes through the Badulla town. Thereafter proceed to Bandarawela & visit Dowa rock Temple. Dowa rock Temple is one of the heritage sites in Sri Lanka, situated in central mountain of Uva province. Dhowa is small ancient village which is situated on Badulla, Bandarawela main road. The Dowa rock temple could be considered as a Mahayana Sculpture with a huge unfinished Buddha image carved into the rock face. The temple dates back to Before Christ times. It has been built safely inside a ring of mountains. A beautiful river is flown across the plateau. Hence, the area had earned the name, Dowa. Afternoon arrive in Bandarawela. Bandarawela is a green town full of tree and flowers (especially Roses) are grown all over. The Urban Council territory contains plots of forest and is full of tree formations. The undulating appearance of the town offers plenty of views. However, nobody seems to be aware of this green character. Actually the town’s inhabitants are great walkers themselves. DAY 05 – BANDARAWELA
Breakfast at the hotel & Estate Program 8 a.m. Leave hotel for learn more about Sri Lankan Tea, THE TOUR OF TEA ESTATE. 8.45 a.m. Reached Ampitikanda estate and be welcome by Tea Factory staff. Find out about the different varieties Tea planted on the estate, the yield they produce and how many kilos are plucked each day and so on. Then the guests are taken around the tea field and process of harvesting, plucking of the tea is demonstrated and a comprehensive explanation is given on the culture of tea. Then meet the workers that pick the tea and learn the best leaves to pick before having a try yourself. After visit tea factory to see tea manufacturing process and discover how the freshly picked leaves from the field get dried and ground into the Black tea that you drink.

DAY 06 – BANDARAWELA – UDAWALAWE SAFARI
After breakfast leave for Udawalawe via Ella. Afternoon safari in the Udawalawe National park. Udawalawe National Park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri Lanka. The national park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir. The reserve covers 30,821 hectares of land area and was established on 30 June 1972. The park is 165 kilometres from Colombo. Udawalawe is an important habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan Elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in the country. DAY 07 – UDAWALAWE – RATNAPURA – KALAWANA

DAY 08 – KALAWANA-SINHARAJA FOREST – BENTOTA – TOUR END
After breakfast trekking in Sinharaja Rainforest. Sinharaja Forest Reserv is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The hilly virgin rainforest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests ecoregion, was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility and was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and a World Heritage Site in 1988. The reserve’s name translates as Kingdom of the Lion. Thereafter leave for Bentota. Dinner & overnight stay in Bentota or similar
